शतानीकादवरजो मदिराक्षो5भ्यहारयत् । शतानीकसे छोटे भाईका नाम मदिराक्ष था। उन्होंने सुवर्णपत्रसे आच्छादित सुदृढ़ कवच धारण किया
śatānīkād avarajo madirākṣo 'bhyahārayat |
Vaiśampāyana said: Śatānīka’s younger brother, Madirākṣa, came forward. He donned a firm cuirass plated with golden sheets—an iron-hard armor capable of withstanding the impact of all kinds of weapons—signaling readiness for battle.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in practice: disciplined preparedness and the duty to protect oneself and one’s side through proper equipment and resolve, without implying aggression for its own sake.
Vaiśampāyana narrates the arrival of Madirākṣa, identified as Śatānīka’s younger brother, who comes forward equipped with a strong, gold-plated armor described as capable of enduring all weapons—marking his entry into the martial scene.
