एवं सर्व विनिश्ित्य व्यवसायं स्वधर्मत: । यथाकाल मनुष्येन्द्र चिरेंं सुखमवाप्स्यसि,“नरेन्द्र! इस प्रकार अपने धर्मके अनुकूल सम्पूर्ण कर्तव्यका निश्चय करके यथासमय उसका पालन करोगे, तो दीर्घकालतक सुख भोगोगे'
evaṁ sarvaṁ viniścitya vyavasāyaṁ svadharmataḥ | yathākālaṁ manuṣyendra cireṇa sukham avāpsyasi ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “O best of men, having thus fully determined your course of action in accordance with your own dharma, and carrying it out at the proper time, you will in the long run attain happiness.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should first make a clear, comprehensive decision about one’s duty (svadharma) and then act with disciplined timing (yathākāla). Such dharma-aligned, well-timed resolve is presented as the cause of lasting well-being rather than short-lived gain.
Vaiśampāyana, narrating the events, delivers a counsel to a kingly figure (addressed as manuṣyendra), affirming that if he determines his obligations according to dharma and fulfills them at the appropriate time, he will attain enduring happiness.
