Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
त॑ गद्दरे प्रकाशे वा पोथयिष्यामि कीचकम् | अथ चेदपि योत्स्यन्ति हिंसे मत्स्यानपि ध्रुवम्
taṁ gaddare prakāśe vā pothayiṣyāmi kīcakam | atha ced api yotsyanti hiṁse matsyān api dhruvam ||
Bhima declared that he would crush Kichaka wherever he might be found—whether in a secluded spot or openly before all. And if the men of Matsya, taking Kichaka’s side, chose to fight, he would surely strike them down as well. The statement underscores Bhima’s fierce resolve to protect Draupadi’s honor and to punish adharma, even at the risk of widening the conflict within Virata’s realm.
