Educational Q&A

When power is used to violate and intimidate, the ethical response is to resist wrongdoing and seek lawful protection. The verse highlights the moral duty of a court to be a refuge for the threatened, and the disgrace that follows when authority fails to protect the vulnerable.

Draupadī (living incognito in Virāṭa’s palace) is grabbed by Kīcaka. She struggles, throws him down, and runs to the royal assembly hall where Yudhiṣṭhira is present, seeking shelter and justice against Kīcaka’s aggression.
