Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 13 — Kīcaka’s Proposition and Draupadī’s Dharmic Refusal

Vaiśampāyana said: Pleased, the king granted him a generous reward of wealth. And when Virāṭa—the best of men—saw the well-trained, disciplined bulls under Sahadeva’s care, he too bestowed upon him wealth in many forms.
Competent work done with discipline and modest conduct deserves recognition; a righteous ruler upholds dharma by rewarding merit appropriately, reinforcing ethical governance and social trust.
During the Pandavas’ incognito stay in Virāṭa’s realm, Sahadeva’s excellence in managing and training the bulls becomes evident. King Virāṭa, pleased by the results, grants him substantial rewards in wealth.
