Seeing them approach, King Trasadasyu, great-souled, went out to the border of his realm and received them with due rites of hospitality. Having honoured them respectfully, he asked the purpose of their visit.
लोगश उवाच
A ruler should uphold rajadharma by receiving visitors according to prescribed etiquette (yathāvidhi), showing honor and restraint, and then prudently asking their purpose—balancing hospitality with responsibility for the realm.
Trasadasyu sees a group arriving, goes to the frontier of his kingdom to meet them, welcomes them formally, and asks why they have come.
