Vaiśampāyana said: Having first sought the permission of the sage Lomāśa and of Dhaumya, his family priest, Yudhiṣṭhira—the foremost of the Pāṇḍavas—stood surrounded by his heroic brothers, beginning with Bhīmasena. When those brāhmaṇas honored him in this manner, his eyes filled with tears of joy. After taking leave of the divine seer Lomāśa and of the priest Dhaumya, he replied “Well said,” and accepted the request of all those ṛṣis.

Even a powerful ruler should act with humility and restraint: seeking permission from spiritual authorities, honoring brāhmaṇas and ṛṣis, and responding to praise or requests with gratitude rather than pride.
Yudhiṣṭhira, surrounded by his brothers, is honored by brāhmaṇas/ṛṣis. Moved to joyful tears, he first takes leave of Lomasha and Dhaumya, then approves the sages’ words (“sādhu”) and accepts their request.
