Narada said: “O great king, the foremost sages—Valmiki, Kasyapa, Atreya, Kundajathara, Visvamitra, Gautama, Asita, Devala, Markandeya, Galava, Bharadvaja, Vasistha, the muni Uddalaka, Saunaka, and the ascetic treasure Vyasa together with his son, as well as the best of sages Durvala and the great tapasvin Jabali—all these maharshis, rich in austerity, are waiting for you. Go with them to the sacred fords that have been indicated. And this sage of immeasurable splendor named Lomaśa will come to you, O king; travel onward in his company.”
नारद उवाच
A king should seek dharmic direction from realized sages and undertake purifying actions (like tīrtha-yātrā) in good company; spiritual merit and right counsel are portrayed as true supports in adversity.
Nārada informs the king that many renowned rishis are waiting and instructs him to go with them to the designated pilgrimage sites; he also announces that the radiant sage Lomaśa will arrive and should be taken as a guide-companion for the journey.
