Nala’s Reception and Reconciliation
दमयन्ती ततो भूय: प्रेषयामास केशिनीम् । मानु: सकाशं दु:खार्ता नलदर्शनकाड्क्षया,अब दमयन्ती नलके दर्शनकी अभिलाषासे दुःखातुर हो गयी। उसने केशिनीको पुनः अपनी माँके पास भेजा
damayantī tato bhūyaḥ preṣayāmāsa keśinīm | mātuḥ sakāśaṃ duḥkhārtā naladarśanakāṅkṣayā ||
Then Damayantī once again sent Keśinī to her mother. Tormented by sorrow and longing to see Nala, she sought her mother’s support, keeping within the bounds of propriety while pursuing a righteous reunion with her husband.
बृहदश्चव उवाच
Even in intense personal suffering, Damayantī acts through appropriate channels—seeking familial counsel and sending a trusted messenger—showing restraint, dignity, and dharmic conduct while pursuing a rightful goal (reunion with her husband).
Damayantī, overwhelmed by grief and eager to see Nala, again dispatches her attendant Keśinī to her mother, indicating continued efforts to locate or reach Nala with the support of her maternal household.
