धृतराष्ट्र–संजय संवादः
Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences
मृदुकुज्चितदीर्घेण कुमुदोक्तरधारिणा । केशहस्तेन ललना जगामाथ विराजती
mṛdukuñcitadīrgheṇa kumudottaradhāriṇā | keśahastena lalanā jagāmātha virājatī ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Adorned and radiant, the young woman went forward—her soft, long, gently curling hair gathered into a braid, decorated with clusters of white kumuda blossoms. Thus beautified, she proceeded toward Arjuna’s dwelling, suggesting a deliberate, decorous approach within the norms of modesty and social propriety.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse primarily offers aesthetic narration, but it implicitly reflects ideals of decorum: personal adornment and composed movement are presented as outward signs of modesty and intentional, socially appropriate conduct.
A radiant young woman, her long curled hair neatly arranged and decorated with white kumuda blossoms, proceeds onward—understood (from the contextual gloss) as moving toward Arjuna’s dwelling.
