Vaiśampāyana said: Taking up that divine bow and also a sword with a golden hilt, Arjuna—mighty in strength and long-armed—set out, O King, for the accomplishment of his purpose. In the narrative context, this marks Arjuna’s disciplined, duty-bound departure under Yudhiṣṭhira’s command, seeking divine audience and aid (Indra and Śaṅkara) not for personal pride but to secure the means for a righteous objective.

The verse highlights disciplined action aligned with duty: Arjuna arms himself and proceeds for 'kārya-siddhi'—success in a rightful mission—showing that power and weapons are to be employed under ethical command and for a legitimate purpose, not for vanity or aggression.
Vaiśampāyana narrates Arjuna’s departure: he takes his divine bow and a sword with a golden hilt and sets out to accomplish his objective. In the surrounding episode, this departure leads toward seeking divine encounter and empowerment to fulfill the Pāṇḍavas’ larger dharmic aims.
