Vaiśampāyana said: After some time had passed, Dharma-rāja Yudhiṣṭhira, recalling the message conveyed by the sage, spoke these words. The scene signals a deliberate, dharma-guided decision: memory of a ṛṣi’s counsel becomes the ethical trigger for Yudhiṣṭhira’s next course of action in exile.

Educational Q&A

Ethically, the verse highlights dharma as guided by śāstra and ṛṣi-counsel: a righteous ruler does not act impulsively but recollects authoritative instruction and then speaks/acts with deliberation.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that, after some time in the forest context, Yudhiṣṭhira recalls a sage’s message (understood here as Vyāsa’s counsel) and begins to speak—setting up the next action and dialogue (notably with Arjuna in the surrounding passage).
