Bhīmasena’s Discourse on Kāla, Resolve, and the Feasibility of Ajñātavāsa (भीमसेनस्य कालोपदेशः)

sarve divyāstravidvāṁsaḥ sarve dharmaparāyaṇāḥ | ajeyāś ceti me buddhir api devaiḥ savāsavaiḥ ||

Yudhiṣṭhira said: “All of them are masters of celestial weapons, and all are steadfastly devoted to dharma. My understanding goes so far as to conclude that they are unconquerable—even by the gods, Indra included.”

Educational Q&A

True strength is portrayed as a union of capability and righteousness: mastery of powerful means (divyāstras) is praised, but it is ethically grounded by dharma-parāyaṇatā. The verse suggests that invincibility is not merely technical skill; it is also moral stature aligned with dharma.

Yudhiṣṭhira is assessing a group of formidable figures, emphasizing two qualities—expertise in celestial weapons and unwavering commitment to dharma—and concludes that they would be impossible to defeat, even by the gods led by Indra.
