Bhīmasena’s Discourse on Kāla, Resolve, and the Feasibility of Ajñātavāsa (भीमसेनस्य कालोपदेशः)

Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O Bhārata, they are committed to Duryodhana’s advantage, not to us with the same goodwill. Their treasury is full and they are backed by military strength; therefore, when battle is joined, they will exert themselves against us.”
Yudhiṣṭhira highlights an ethical-political truth: loyalty follows perceived interest and obligation. One should assess alliances by motives and capacities (wealth and force), not by hope alone, and prepare responsibly for conflict.
In the Vana Parva context, Yudhiṣṭhira is weighing the stance of others in the coming struggle. He concludes that certain parties will side with Duryodhana, and because they possess resources and military power, they will actively oppose the Pāṇḍavas when war begins.
