Thus, in the revered Mahābhārata, within the Vana Parva—specifically in the section praising the greatness of the devoted wife (pativratā)—the Savitrī episode concludes here as the two-hundred-and-ninety-eighth chapter. The closing formula underscores the ideal celebrated: steadfast marital fidelity and dharmic resolve as a source of spiritual power and protection.

Educational Q&A

The colophon frames the Savitrī narrative as a dharmic exemplum: the moral power of pativratā-dharma—steadfast fidelity, truthfulness, and resolve—can uphold righteousness and overcome adversity.

This is the formal closing statement (colophon) marking the end of the Savitrī episode within the Pativratā-māhātmya section of the Vana Parva, identifying the chapter count and textual placement.
