Yama said: “Here in this world, those (sons) bearing your name will become renowned forever. Moreover, from your father, a hundred sons will be born in your mother’s womb.”
यम उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic idea that righteous conduct and divine approval can yield enduring fame (kīrti) and the flourishing of one’s lineage; reputation and progeny are presented as lasting fruits of merit and blessing.
Yama, speaking as a divine authority, grants a prophetic assurance: those associated with the addressee’s name will be perpetually renowned, and the addressee’s mother will bear a hundred sons by the father—an explicit boon concerning fame and progeny.
