Having duly worshipped Rama, they all departed and returned the way they had come. O Yudhiṣṭhira, at that time the sky itself seemed like a great festival—filled with the splendor and commotion of a grand celebration.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights reverent worship and proper closure of a sacred encounter: honoring a worthy figure (Rāma) and then departing in an orderly, respectful manner. The festival-like sky underscores how dharmic devotion is portrayed as cosmically auspicious.

Mārkaṇḍeya tells Yudhiṣṭhira that after performing Rāma’s worship, the gathered people returned by the same way they came. The atmosphere is described as so radiant and celebratory that even the sky appears like a grand festival.
