Adhyāya 290: Kuntī’s Mantra-Parīkṣā and the Appearance of Sūrya (कुन्ती–सूर्यसंवादः)

स राममुद्दिश्य शरैस्ततो दत्तवरैस्तदा

sa rāmam uddiśya śarais tato dattavarais tadā

Then, fixing his aim upon Rāma, he discharged arrows—at that time empowered by the boons he had received—signaling a divinely sanctioned yet morally charged escalation of the conflict.
