Educational Q&A

The verse functions as a narrative enumeration: by naming powerful figures and their kin-relations, it underscores how strength and alliances accumulate in epic conflicts, reminding the listener that ethical outcomes (dharma) unfold amid networks of power, family ties, and escalating opposition.

Mārkaṇḍeya is listing or introducing characters: he identifies two individuals—Vajravega and Pramāthin—as the younger brothers of Dūṣaṇa, marking their presence as part of a larger assembly or confrontation in the story.
