Sāvitrī’s Report and Nārada’s Prognosis
tam anvagacchal lakṣmīvān dhanuṣmāl lakṣmaṇas tadā | sītā ca bhāryā bhadraṃ te vaidehī janakātmajā rājān ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: Then Lakṣmaṇa—radiant with auspicious splendor and bearing his bow—followed him. And Sītā too, his wife, the noble Vaidehī, daughter of Janaka, accompanied him. O king, may welfare be yours.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
True dharma is upheld through steadfast loyalty and shared responsibility: Lakṣmaṇa’s protective brotherly duty and Sītā’s devoted companionship show commitment to righteousness even when it brings hardship (exile).
Mārkaṇḍeya recounts that when Rāma went to the forest, Lakṣmaṇa, armed with his bow, followed him, and Sītā—Vaidehī, Janaka’s daughter—also accompanied Rāma; the sage addresses the listener as ‘O king’ and offers a blessing.
