Bhīmasena said: “As Brahmā in form, the Lord brings forth creation; as the Supreme Person (Nārāyaṇa) in embodied form, He protects it; and, assuming the Rudra-mode, He brings all to cessation. Thus the Lord who governs beings is understood to have these three functional states—creation, preservation, and dissolution.”
भीमसेन उवाच
The verse presents a functional theology: one supreme Lord is understood through three operative modes—creating as Brahmā, preserving as the Puruṣa (often identified with Nārāyaṇa/Viṣṇu), and dissolving as Rudra—thereby maintaining cosmic order.
Bhīma articulates a doctrinal explanation about the Lord’s governance of the world, describing how the same divine reality is spoken of in three roles corresponding to creation, protection, and dissolution.
