सीता-रावण-संवादः

Sītā–Rāvaṇa Dialogue in the Aśoka Grove

इति श्रीमहा भारते वनपर्वणि द्रौपदीहरणपर्वणि जयद्रथागमने चतुःषष्ट्यधिकद्विशततमो<5ध्याय:

iti śrīmahābhārate vanaparvaṇi draupadīharaṇaparvaṇi jayadrathāgamane catuḥṣaṣṭyadhikadviśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ

Thus ends the two-hundred and sixty-fourth chapter of the Vana Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the section concerning the abduction of Draupadī, specifically the episode of Jayadratha’s arrival. The colophon marks the close of this narrative unit, framing the events as a moral lesson on restraint, the protection owed to the vulnerable, and the consequences that follow from violating dharma.

Educational Q&A

Though this line is a colophon rather than a narrative verse, it frames the preceding episode as a dharmic warning: violating another’s dignity—especially through coercion and abduction—invites moral and practical consequences, while righteous protection and restraint are upheld as duties.

This is the closing colophon of the chapter, indicating that the chapter belongs to the Vana Parva, within the Draupadī-abduction section, specifically the sub-episode describing Jayadratha’s arrival.
