रामस्य पम्पातीरगमनम्, सुग्रीवसख्यं, वालिवधः, सीतारक्षणवृत्तान्तश्च

सहदेवो देवनद्यामपश्यन्‌ मुनिसत्तमान्‌ | तीर्थेष्वितस्ततस्तस्या विचचार गवेषयन्‌,सहदेवने जब देवनदीमें उन श्रेष्ठ मुनियोंको नहीं देखा, तब वे वहाँके तीर्थोंमें इधर-उधर खोजते हुए विचरने लगे

sahadevo devanadyām apaśyan munisattamān | tīrtheṣv itas tatastasyā vicacāra gaveṣayan ||

Vaiśampāyana said: When Sahadeva did not see those foremost sages on the river called Devanadī, he began to wander about, searching here and there among its sacred fords (tīrthas), with diligence and reverence in hopes of finding them.
