Vaiśampāyana said: “You are the beginning and the end of all beings, and you alone are their supreme refuge. You are the Light beyond the highest, the Self of the universe, the Lord who faces all directions.” In the narrative, this is a hymn of devotion that frames Kṛṣṇa not merely as a heroic ally but as the ultimate ground of existence, encouraging surrender, humility, and ethical steadiness amid uncertainty.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse teaches śaraṇāgati (taking refuge): the divine is the origin and end of all life, the ultimate support, and the transcendent light pervading everything; recognizing this fosters humility, trust, and moral steadiness.
Vaiśampāyana narrates a eulogy addressed to Kṛṣṇa, presenting him in cosmic terms (origin, end, refuge, universal Self), elevating the scene from human events to a devotional-theological affirmation.
