रावण–मारीचसंवादः तथा मृगप्रलोभनपूर्वकं सीताहरणोपक्रमः

पतनान्ते महद् दुःखं परिताप: सुदारुण: । स्वर्गभाज शक्षरन्तीह तस्मात् स्वर्ग न कामये,“ओह! पतनके बाद तो स्वर्गवासी मनुष्योंको अत्यन्त भयंकर महान् दुःख और अनुताप होता है और फिर वे इसी लोकमें विचरते रहते हैं; इसलिये मुझे स्वर्गमें जानेकी इच्छा नहीं है
Transliteration
patanānte mahad duḥkhaṃ paritāpaḥ sudāruṇaḥ | svargabhājaḥ kṣarantiha tasmāt svargaṃ na kāmaye ||
Translation
Vyāsa said: “At the end of one’s fall from heaven there arises immense suffering and a most dreadful remorse. Those who have enjoyed heaven then slip away and wander again here in this mortal world; therefore I do not desire heaven.”
