Above this world lies that realm known as Svarga (the heaven-world). It is reached by ascending, and therefore it is also called ‘Ūrdhvaga’—the upward-going. The path leading there is ever the noble ‘good way’ (satpatha). O sage, those who dwell there continually move about in divine aerial cars, enjoying the fruits of their meritorious deeds.
The verse frames Svarga as a higher realm attained by an ‘upward’ movement along the satpatha (righteous path), implying that ethical merit and right conduct lead to elevated states of existence and refined enjoyments.
A divine messenger addresses a sage and describes the location and nature of Svarga: it lies far above, is reached by ascent, its route is the noble path, and its inhabitants travel continually in celestial vimānas.
