Vaiśampāyana said: “O wise one, we few have been left behind as mere seed of our lineage. O king, O Yudhiṣṭhira, by your gracious favor may our race flourish again—this is our humble petition.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the dharmic duty of a righteous king to protect vulnerable survivors and enable their renewal; prosperity and continuity are sought not through force but through the ruler’s compassionate grace.
A small remnant group, describing themselves as the ‘seed’ of their lineage, approaches King Yudhiṣṭhira and petitions him for favor and protection so that their community may grow again.
