Vaiśampāyana uvāca: sa suhṛdbhir amātyaiś ca bhrātṛbhiḥ svajanena ca | bahuprakāram apy ukto niścayān na vicālyate ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Though urged in many ways by his well-wishers, his ministers, his brothers, and his own kinsmen, he could not be shaken from his fixed resolve.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even wise and affectionate counsel cannot help a person who clings to an unrighteous resolve; stubbornness in adharma hardens the mind against correction and becomes a seed of downfall.
Vaiśampāyana tells Janamejaya that Duryodhana was repeatedly advised by friends, ministers, brothers, and relatives, yet he remained unmoved and would not abandon his determined course.
