Vaiśampāyana said: “This course brings fame and is in harmony with the divine; it also secures one’s rightful aims and destroys enemies. Therefore, O you of auspicious fragrance, adorned with splendid garlands, precious ornaments, and fragrant unguents, worship and honor your beloved lord. By such devoted reverence, your renown and good fortune increase, your wishes are fulfilled, and hostile forces are brought to ruin.”

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that reverent worship and honoring of one’s divine lord (and, in the domestic-ethical frame, one’s beloved protector) with purity and auspicious adornment leads to fame, prosperity, fulfillment of aims, and the overcoming of hostile forces—linking devotion with ethical well-being and social stability.

Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, reports an instruction praising a particular devotional course: the addressed person is urged to approach and worship the beloved lord with garlands, ornaments, and fragrant unguents, emphasizing that such conduct yields renown, good fortune, success of intentions, and the subduing of enemies.
