Vaiśampāyana said: There, many striking tales connected with the Kurus and the Yadus became the subject of conversation. Then Satyabhāmā—Kṛṣṇa’s beloved chief queen—spoke privately, turning to Draupadī with a pointed question about the conduct by which a wife wins and steadies the hearts of heroic husbands without provoking their anger. The scene frames an ethical inquiry into marital duty, self-restraint, and the arts of harmony within household life.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse sets up an ethical inquiry: harmony in marriage and household life is sustained through disciplined conduct, respectful speech, and understanding of dharma—so that affection and authority arise without coercion or conflict.
After conversation about matters related to the Kurus and Yadus, Satyabhāmā, Kṛṣṇa’s beloved queen, begins a private dialogue—addressing Draupadī and asking how she maintains influence and concord with the heroic Pāṇḍavas.
