यमश्न मृत्युना सार्थ सर्वतः परिवारित:
yamaś ca mṛtyunā sārthaḥ sarvataḥ parivāritaḥ
Mārkaṇḍeya said: “Yama, accompanied by Death, stood surrounded on all sides.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse evokes the inevitability of death and the inescapable reach of dharma: Yama, the judge of deeds, is shown with Mṛtyu, suggesting that life’s end is not random but bound to moral causality and cosmic order.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a scene where Yama, accompanied by Death, is surrounded on all sides—portraying a moment of confrontation or closure in which the forces of mortality and judgment are fully present and unavoidable.
