मार्कण्डेय उवाच सुपर्णी सा तदा भूत्वा निर्जगाम महावनात्‌ | अपश्यत्‌ पर्वतं श्वेतं शरस्तम्बै:ः सुसंवृतम्‌,मार्कण्डेयजी कहते हैं--राजन! ऐसा कहकर वह तत्काल गरुडीका रूप धारण करके उस महान्‌ वनसे बाहर निकल गयी। आगे जानेपर उसने सरकंडोंके समूहसे आच्छादित श्वेतपर्वतके शिखरको देखा

Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: suparṇī sā tadā bhūtvā nirjagāma mahāvanāt | apaśyat parvataṁ śvetaṁ śarastambaiḥ susaṁvṛtam ||

Mārkaṇḍeya said: Having then assumed the form of Suparṇī (the bird Garuḍī), she at once departed from that great forest. Proceeding onward, she beheld a white mountain, well covered over with clusters of śara-reeds.
