Transliteration

atriḥ putrān sraṣṭakāmas tān evāt many adhārayat

Translation

Mārkaṇḍeya said: Desiring to bring forth sons, the sage Atri first held them within himself—restraining the impulse to create until it could be rightly formed and sustained.
