Skanda–Mātṛgaṇa-janma: Kumārakāḥ, Kanyāgaṇāḥ, and the Vīrāṣṭaka
avaśyaṃ kriyamāṇasya karmaṇo dṛśyate phalam | na hi nirvedam āgamya kiñcit prāpnoti śobhanam ||
The fruit of an action truly undertaken is surely seen. But by merely sinking into dejection and abandoning effort, one attains nothing commendable.
Visible, worthwhile outcomes arise from action that is actually performed; mere dejection and withdrawal from effort produce nothing good. The verse distinguishes constructive detachment from unproductive despair.
In the Vyādha’s discourse (the hunter’s moral instruction), he advises the listener to abandon despondency and engage in proper action, emphasizing that results follow from doing one’s work.
