योड्यमिच्छेद् यथा काम त॑ तं कामं स आप्नुयात्
yoḍyam icched yathā kāmaṃ taṃ taṃ kāmaṃ sa āpnuyāt
If a person desires to pursue any undertaking according to his wish, then he attains that very object of desire.
व्याध उवाच
Desire, when translated into a chosen undertaking, tends to yield its corresponding result; one’s aims and intentions shape the fruits one reaches, underscoring moral causality and responsibility.
The hunter (Vyādha) continues instructing his listener, presenting a general principle about how a person’s chosen pursuit—guided by desire—leads to the attainment of that desired end, as part of a broader ethical discourse.
