karmaṇā yena teneha pāpād dvijavarottama | evaṃ śrutir iyaṃ brahman dharmeṣu pratidiśyate ||
The hunter said: “O best of Brahmins, by whatever prescribed action one performs here—when done in the right spirit—one can be freed from sin. O Brahman, such a teaching is found in the śruti with regard to dharma.”

Freedom from sin is attainable through properly performed action aligned with dharma, and this principle is supported by śruti (Vedic authority). The emphasis is on ethical, scripturally grounded conduct rather than mere status or birth.
The hunter (vyādha), instructing a Brahmin, cites śruti to validate his point: in matters of dharma, right action can cleanse sin. This forms part of the broader dialogue where an unexpected teacher articulates dharma with scriptural backing.
