एतदिच्छामि भगवनू प्रश्न॑ प्रश्नविदां वर | श्रीतुं भूुगुकुलश्रेष्ठ शुश्रूषे तव सुव्रत,भगवन्‌! भृूगुकुलशिरोमणे! आप उत्तम व्रतके पालक और प्रश्नका समाधान करनेवाले दिद्वानोंमें श्रेष्ठ हैं। मैंने जो प्रश्न आपके सम्मुख उपस्थित किया है, उसीका उत्तर मैं आपसे सुनना चाहता हूँ

Transliteration

etad icchāmi bhagavan praśnaṁ praśnavidāṁ vara | śrotuṁ bhṛgukulaśreṣṭha śuśrūṣe tava suvrata bhagavan bhṛgukulaśiromaṇe ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana said: “O venerable one, best among those who know how to resolve questions; O foremost of the Bhṛgu lineage; O keeper of excellent vows—I wish to hear precisely this. I stand ready to listen and to serve you. O Blessed one, crest-jewel of the Bhṛgu clan, I desire to hear from you the answer to the very question I have placed before you.”
