दीप्यमानं यथा सूर्यस्तेजसा भरतर्षभ । बालूके भीतर छिपा हुआ उसका शरीर विशाल एवं भयंकर था। भरतश्रेष्ठ) वह अपने तेजसे सूर्यके समान उद्दीप्त हो रहा था
dīpyamānaṃ yathā sūryas tejasā bharatarṣabha | bālūke bhitare channaṃ tasya śarīraṃ viśālaṃ bhayaṅkaraṃ ca | bharataśreṣṭha sa sva-tejasā sūrya-samāna uddypto babhūva ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: “O bull among the Bharatas, he blazed with radiance like the sun. Hidden within the sand, his body was vast and terrifying; and, O best of the Bharatas, by his own innate splendor he shone forth, sun-like.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the epic motif that true power (tejas) is self-manifesting: even when concealed, an extraordinary being’s inner radiance inevitably reveals itself, inspiring both reverence and caution.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a fearsome, enormous figure whose body is hidden within sand, yet who blazes visibly with sun-like brilliance—emphasizing the being’s overwhelming presence and potency.
