nārāyaṇāḍka-prakhyas tvaṃ sāmparāye ’tipaṭhyase | bhagavān anekaśaḥ kṛtvā tvayā viṣṇoś ca viśvakṛt ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “You are celebrated as one who is like Nārāyaṇa himself, and in the world beyond your glory is recited everywhere. By your own spiritual discipline you have, again and again, beheld the Lord Viṣṇu—the Maker of the universe—having opened (through yogic power) the wondrous inner lotus of the heart, and with the divine vision gained through detachment and sustained practice.”

Educational Q&A

True spiritual authority is grounded in inner realization: through vairāgya (detachment) and abhyāsa (disciplined practice), one gains divya-dṛṣṭi (purified vision) and can directly realize the Lord (sākṣātkāra). Public praise is presented as the natural consequence of such realized devotion, not its goal.

Vaiśampāyana is extolling a devotee/ascetic figure, describing him as Nārāyaṇa-like and universally praised in the hereafter, and affirming that he has repeatedly had direct visions of Viṣṇu, the cosmic creator, through yogic opening of the inner heart-lotus and the spiritual power born of detachment and practice.
