Shloka 85

Sarasvatī–Tārkṣya Saṃvāda: Agnihotra-vidhi, Dāna-phala, and Mokṣa-prasaṅga (सरस्वती–तार्क्ष्यसंवादः)

ऋषयस्ते महात्मान: प्रत्यक्षागमबुद्धयः । कर्मभूमिमिमां प्राप्प पुनर्यान्ति सुरालयम्‌,लौकिक तथा शास्त्रीय ज्ञानको प्रत्यक्ष करनेवाले वे महामना ऋषि इस कर्मभूमिमें आकर फिर देवलोकमें चले जाते हैं

ṛṣayas te mahātmānaḥ pratyakṣāgamabuddhayaḥ | karmabhūmim imāṃ prāpya punar yānti surālayam ||

Mārkaṇḍeya said: “Those great-souled seers, whose understanding is grounded both in direct realization and in the authority of sacred tradition, come to this world—the field where deeds are performed—and, having fulfilled their purpose here, they depart once again to the abode of the gods.”

True spiritual authority combines pratyakṣa (direct realization) with āgama (scriptural tradition). Such realized sages engage the human world as a karmabhūmi—performing or exemplifying right action—and then, having completed their mission, attain higher realms.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes the movement of great ṛṣis: they descend to the human sphere where actions bear moral and spiritual consequence, and after accomplishing their work—teaching, guiding, or fulfilling tapas and dharma—they depart again to the divine abode.
