Arjuna said: “O king, they asked for a city heaped with every kind of jewel—unassailable even by the gods, and impossible to destroy by great seers, Yakṣas, Gandharvas, Nāgas, Asuras, and Rākṣasas. They prayed that their sons should be invulnerable even to gods, demons, and serpents, and that they should possess a splendid city, blazing with great radiance, moving through the sky like a vimāna, filled with all treasures, endowed with every desired excellence, free from sorrow and disease. For the Kālakeyas, Brahmā fashioned just such a city—this very divine, sky-roaming city that wanders everywhere, into which the gods have no entry; and in it dwell the Dānavas named Pauloma and Kālakāñja.”

The passage highlights how the pursuit of absolute security and invulnerability—symbolized by an indestructible, wish-fulfilling city—can reflect power-seeking and exclusion (even the gods cannot enter). It frames boons as morally ambivalent: divine gifts can amplify both protection and pride, setting the stage for cosmic conflict.
Arjuna describes a request made for extraordinary boons: invulnerable offspring and a radiant, jewel-filled city that moves through the sky and cannot be destroyed by any class of beings. He states that Brahmā granted this by constructing such a sky-roaming divine city for the Kālakeyas, inhabited by the Dānavas Pauloma and Kālakāñja, and barred to the gods.
