तत: शड्खमुपादाय देवदत्तं महास्वनम् | परमां मुदमाश्रित्य प्राधमं तं शनैरहम्,तब मैंने बड़ी भयंकर ध्वनि करनेवाले देवदत्त नामक शंखको हाथमें लेकर अत्यन्त प्रसन्न हो धीरे-धीरे उसे बजाया
tataḥ śaṅkham upādāya devadattaṁ mahāsvanam | paramāṁ mudam āśritya prādhamaṁ taṁ śanair aham ||
Then, taking up the conch named Devadatta, whose sound was mighty and awe-inspiring, I—filled with supreme joy—blew it slowly, letting its first reverberation rise as a deliberate signal of resolve and righteous readiness.
