अर्थधर्मावनादृत्य यः पापे कुरुते मन: । कर्मणां पार्थ पापानां स फल विन्‍्दते ध्रुवम्‌ । पुनरेवं न कर्तव्यं मम चेदिच्छसि प्रियम्‌,पार्थ! जो अर्थ और धर्मका अनादर करके पापमें मन लगाता है उसे पापकर्मोका फल अवश्य प्राप्त होता है। यदि तुम वही कार्य करना चाहते हो जो मुझे प्रिय लगे तो आजसे फिर कभी ऐसा काम तुम्हें नहीं करना चाहिये

yudhiṣṭhira uvāca |

arthadharmāv anādṛtya yaḥ pāpe kurute manaḥ |

karmaṇāṃ pārtha pāpānāṃ sa phalaṃ vindate dhruvam |

punar evaṃ na kartavyaṃ mama ced icchasi priyam ||

Yudhiṣṭhira said: “O Pārtha, the one who disregards both material welfare and dharma, and turns his mind toward sin, surely receives the fruit of sinful deeds. If you wish to do what is pleasing to me, then from today onward you must never do such a thing again.”
