अर्जुनागमनम्
Arjuna’s Arrival and Reunion on the Sacred Mountain
तथा निवसतां तेषां पञ्चमं वर्षमभ्यगात् । शृण्वतां लोमशोक्तानि वाक््यानि विविधान्युत,वहाँ निवास करते हुए उनका पाँचवाँ वर्ष बीत गया। उन दिनों वे लोमशजीकी कही हुई नाना प्रकारकी कथाएँ सुना करते थे
tathā nivasatāṃ teṣāṃ pañcamaṃ varṣam abhyagāt | śṛṇvatāṃ lomaśoktāni vākyāni vividhāny uta ||
As they continued dwelling there, their fifth year passed. During that time, they listened to the many and varied accounts and sayings spoken by the sage Lomaśa—narratives that sustained them through exile and reinforced the discipline of endurance.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores steadfastness in adversity: time moves on even in hardship, and wise discourse (the sage’s varied narratives) helps preserve dharma, patience, and moral clarity during prolonged trials.
While the exiled heroes continue living in the forest, another year passes—the fifth—during which they spend their days hearing Lomaśa’s diverse accounts and teachings.
