हरितारुणवर्णानां शाद्धलानां समीपत:
haritāruṇavarṇānāṃ śāddhalānāṃ samīpataḥ
Vaiśampāyana said: “Near the śāddhala trees, whose hues were a blend of fresh green and reddish-gold, the scene was marked by the quiet beauty of the forest.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse primarily sets atmosphere rather than issuing a direct injunction: it uses precise natural imagery to frame human action, suggesting that dharma is lived within an ordered world where attention, restraint, and awareness of one’s surroundings support right conduct.
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) describes a location in the forest, specifying that events occur near śāddhala trees distinguished by green and reddish-golden coloration, thereby situating the listener in the scene before the next action unfolds.
