Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)

tathā śālāṁs tamālāṁś ca pāṭalān bakulān api | mālā iva samāsaktāḥ śailānāṁ śikhareṣu ca ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “So too, śāla, tamāla, pāṭala, and bakula trees clung to the mountain peaks, adorning them like garlands.” The scene heightens the epic’s sense of the forest as a living, ordered realm—beauty and harmony persisting even amid the hardships of exile.
