Educational Q&A

Hardship (kleśa) need not be seen as meaningless; under dharmic conduct and with auspicious intent, it can ‘ripen’ (udarka) into well-being. The verse reinforces patience and moral confidence that present suffering may yield beneficial outcomes.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that brāhmaṇas respond with approval and blessings, assuring the addressed hero—called ‘Bharatarṣabha’—that the current distress will soon turn into happiness.
