Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “O blameless one, here you are able to behold only so much of my form. Yet I can expand beyond this: as vast as the form conceived within my mind, to that extent I can grow. And when dreadful enemies are near, my embodied presence swells exceedingly, charged with overpowering energy.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes the idea of expandable potency: a being’s manifested form and strength can increase according to inner resolve (manas) and the demands of protection, especially in the presence of hostile forces.
A speaker (reported by Vaiśaṃpāyana) describes his form as something the listener can only partially perceive, while asserting the capacity to grow far larger—particularly when confronting fearsome enemies, where his manifestation intensifies with ojas (vital, heroic energy).
