Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path
गन्धमुद्धतमुद्दामो वने मत्त इव द्विप: । वीज्यमान: सुपुण्येन नानाकुसुमगन्धिना,वे महातेजस्वी कुन्तीकुमार सभी ऋतुओंके फूलोंके उत्कट सुगन्धका आस्वादन करते हुए वनमें उद्दामगतिसे विचरनेवाले मदोन्मत्त गजराजकी भाँति चले जा रहे थे। नाना प्रकारके कुसुमोंसे सुवासित गन्धमादनकी परम पवित्र वायु उन्हें पंखा झल रही थी। जैसे पिताको पुत्रका स्पर्श शीतल एवं सुखद जान पड़ता है, वैसा ही सुख भीमसेनको उस पर्वतीय वायुके स्पर्शसे मिल रहा था। उनके पिता पवनदेव उनकी सारी थकावट हर लेते थे। उस समय हर्षातिरेकसे भीमके शरीरमें रोमांच हो रहा था
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: gandham uddhatam uddāmo vane matta iva dvipaḥ | vījyamānaḥ supuṇyena nānā-kusuma-gandhinā ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Exultant and unrestrained, he moved through the forest like an intoxicated lordly elephant, savoring the heady fragrance. He was fanned by a supremely pure breeze, perfumed with the scents of many kinds of flowers—an atmosphere that conveys both the sanctity of the place and the hero’s renewed vigor amid exile.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how a pure, sacred environment can steady and refresh a person in hardship: even during exile, contact with what is 'supuṇya' (highly auspicious/pure) restores strength and clarity, supporting steadfastness in dharma.
The narrator depicts a hero moving through the forest with powerful, elephant-like energy, while a holy, flower-scented breeze fans and invigorates him, emphasizing the sanctity of the setting and the character’s renewed momentum.
