Bhīmasena–Hanūmān Saṃvāda: The Tail Test and the Divine Path
बद्धश्रोत्रमनश्षक्षुर्जगामामितविक्रम: । वह देखनेमें ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो पृथिवीके समस्त आभूषणोंसे विभूषित ऊँचे उठी हुई भुजा हो। गन्धमादनके शिखर सब ओरसे रमणीय थे। वहाँ कोयल पक्षियोंकी शब्दध्वनि हो रही थी और झुंड-के-झुंड भौरे मड़रा रहे थे। भीमसेन उन्हींमें आँखें गड़ाये मन-ही-मन अभिलषित कार्यका चिन्तन करते जाते थे। अमितपराक्रमी भीमके कान, नेत्र और मन उन्हीं शिखरोंमें अटके रहे अर्थात् उनके कान वहाँके विचित्र शब्दोंको सुननेमें लग गये; आँखें वहाँके अद्भुत दृश्योंको निहारने लगीं और मन वहाँकी अलौकिक विशेषताके विषयमें सोचने लगा और वे अपने गन्तव्य स्थानकी ओर अग्रसर होते चले गये ।। १६-१७ हे || आजिपघ्रन् स महातेजा: सर्वर्तुकुसुमोद्भधवम्,वे महातेजस्वी कुन्तीकुमार सभी ऋतुओंके फूलोंके उत्कट सुगन्धका आस्वादन करते हुए वनमें उद्दामगतिसे विचरनेवाले मदोन्मत्त गजराजकी भाँति चले जा रहे थे। नाना प्रकारके कुसुमोंसे सुवासित गन्धमादनकी परम पवित्र वायु उन्हें पंखा झल रही थी। जैसे पिताको पुत्रका स्पर्श शीतल एवं सुखद जान पड़ता है, वैसा ही सुख भीमसेनको उस पर्वतीय वायुके स्पर्शसे मिल रहा था। उनके पिता पवनदेव उनकी सारी थकावट हर लेते थे। उस समय हर्षातिरेकसे भीमके शरीरमें रोमांच हो रहा था

Vaiśampāyana said: The hero of immeasurable prowess went on, with his ears, mind, and eyes wholly fixed—absorbed in what he heard, saw, and contemplated. Thus Bhīma advanced toward his destination, his attention held fast by the wondrous mountain heights and their enchanting sounds and sights, as his inner resolve continued to shape the task he sought to accomplish.
